We hear all kinds of wonderful reports from homeowners who decide to set up a vegetable garden. How they have too many tomatoes to handle, and how the squash seems to be multiplying over night. I know, because I not only listen to such accounts, I have personally given them. And yet it never crossed my mind that it could be such an ordeal for a newcomer, I guess my hubris took over.
However, a young couple has moved into our village, and seem to be having no luck whatsoever with their veggie patch. As the latest addition to our community we have been keeping an eye out for them, to ensure they settle in well, and are pleased with their decision to join our fare place. Now, none of us wants to hurt their feelings, but it is obvious that they could use some guidance when it comes to how to tend to the garden. This has left me debating if I should go over and offer my knowledge, or just let them figure things out in their own good time. And I have to admit, each time I take my evening stroll past their home I have a strong desire to knock on the door. So far, as I think is best, I have avoided doing so. But I only have so much willpower, so we shall see.
